Western Cold War Ignorance of China/Vietnam
  • In this Japan Times article:

I reveal for the first time a November 1964 Kremlin meeting (where I was present) at which an Australian foreign minister, backed by the US, set out to persuade the top Soviet leadership that the USSR should support the West in vietnam.

It was an unparalleled example of the extent of Western ignorance of Asian affairs during Cold War days, an ignorance that would lead to the loss of two-three million lives.
  • My basic question is Cold War was the fear of Communist by Western world but Asia was not actually included however countries deeply connected like US - Japan, and other country were indirectly attended to the Cold War relation at the time? Learning that part of the history is still confusing. Only philosophy was the point of repulsive ?
